Vaccines: Puppies

Vaccines: Kittens

  • Puppies receive distemper/parvo (DHPP) vaccines every 3-4 weeks until after 16 weeks of age. If they will be exposed to wildlife (i.e., hunting, camping, hiking), we will include the leptospirosis vaccine in the last two shots of the series.
  • Bordetella (kennel cough) is usually given at the first vaccine appointment.
  • Rabies vaccine is given at the last appointment of the series.
  • Kittens are vaccinated for panleukopenia and several upper respiratory infections (FVRCP vaccine) every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age.
  • We recommend the feline leukemia (FeLV) vaccine for all kittens, as they are the age group most susceptible to that infection.
  • Rabies vaccine is given at the last appointment of the series.

Complimentary office visits

  • Each puppy and kitten package includes free, unlimited office visits for 6 months from the start of the package. We want our clients to be able to bring their youngsters in any time they have a concern, without having to worry about the cost of an office visit. We know how worried new pet-parents can be, and how much trouble puppies and kittens can get into!
  • Technician visits for vaccine appointments are also included in the packages.

Deworming and fecal test

  • Two routine dewormings are included in the puppy and kitten packages. These dewormings treat for roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms.
  • At your first visit we will give you a sample container for you to bring in a fresh fecal sample from your pet. You can drop this sample off any time we are open, and we will call you with results. This test is to check for any of the intestinal parasites that are sometimes seen in puppies and kittens, but are not covered by routine deworming medications.

Parasite prevention

  • Each package includes the first dose of flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention. For dogs, our flea prevention product of choice is Nexgard (chewable tablet); for heartworm prevention we carry Heartgard (chewable tablet). For cats, we carry Frontline Gold (topical), which prevents fleas and ticks, and also Revolution (topical), which prevents fleas, ticks, heartworm, and treats some intestinal parasites and ear mites.
  • We recommend these products be used for parasite prevention monthly. In California, we have bugs all year round, so we recommend your pets be protected all year as well. You can purchase products in the appropriate sizes as your new pet grows.

Spay and neuter surgeries

  • Spay and neuter surgeries for patients on the puppy and kitten packages are discounted.
