Services

Wellness Care

In addition to treating illnesses and injuries, we offer comprehensive Wellness Care for dogs and cats. This includes annual exams, vaccinations, and routine laboratory testing.

For puppies and kittens under 16 weeks of age, we offer the Puppy Package and the Kitten Package in order to provide all of the recommended vaccines, deworming, and parasite treatment your new friend needs to get the best start in life.

Parasite testing, treatment, and prevention

Picture
Whether it’s fleas, ticks, intestinal worms, or heartworms, we offer a wide range of testing and treatment for different types of parasites, as well as monthly preventative products to make sure the bugs don’t come back. Depending on the type of parasite, we have products that are given orally, topically, or in the clinic by injection.

Surgery and Anesthesia

Picture

We perform a wide variety of surgeries, including spay and neuter surgery, tumor removals, and abdominal surgery. We know anesthetic procedures can be a source of anxiety for our clients, and the Surgery and Anesthesia page details some of the steps we take to manage our patients’ safely.

Diagnostic Imaging

When we need to see inside a pet we can use our digital radiographs (x-rays) to look at the heart and lungs, the abdomen, and especially the bones. Ultrasound is our other imaging modality and allows us to look at the abdominal organs in much greater detail. Ultrasound is also useful for identifying fluid in the abdomen or chest, and helping us obtain diagnostic samples. In both cases, we can save images to a disc if you want to be able to view the images at home, or need to take them to a specialist appointment.
If a specialist’s opinion is needed, we can send radiographs electronically to a group of radiology specialists in Sacramento. They will read the images for us and provide their expert opinion within 24 hours. For ultrasounds, our doctors can perform basic scans of the abdomen, including pregnancy scans. When a more experienced hand is needed, we can call in a veterinarian with more detailed ultrasound experience to perform a scan for us, or we can refer your pet to a radiologist at a specialty hospital.

Dentistry

Learn more about our Dentistry procedures, which include cleaning the teeth above and below the gumline, taking dental radiographs (x-rays) of the teeth, and performing any extractions needed to allow our patients a mouth free of pain or infection.

Laboratory Services

Picture
We have a variety of diagnostic tests we can run in-house, giving you results the day of your visit. These tests can detect heartworms, feline leukemia and FIV, parvovirus, and giardia. We also have lab machines to run complete blood counts, chemistry panels, and thyroid testing. We can use our microscope to examine samples from skin and ear infections, suspected tumors, and urine samples in order to get more information about your pet’s condition.

For more specialized testing--including blood tests, urine cultures, allergy testing, and biopsies-- we send our lab samples to Idexx Reference Laboratories. Depending on the test, results may be available as soon as the next day, though biopsies, cultures, and some blood tests can take several days to come back. We will always call you with test results as soon as they are available.

Pharmacy and Therapeutic Diets

Picture
For your convenience, our in-house pharmacy stocks most of the medications we use and prescribe. This means we can usually send home your pet’s medication at the same time as your visit, and you can call us for refills as well. For medications we do not stock, we may either order the medication or write you a prescription to take to a regular pharmacy. We can also order compounded medications, which can be made into a liquid for ease of administration, and flavored to your pet’s preference.

For those patients whose medical needs require a specific food, we carry Hill's Prescription Diets. We have small quantities of these products so patients can try the new food right away, and we place orders for ongoing needs each week. If your pet eats one of these diets, please call our office to place your order by Thursday, and the food will generally be available for pick-up on Friday. For pets that prefer one of the foods from a different line of veterinary diets, we are happy to write you a prescription.
